FORSYTH, Mo. – A jury trial is scheduled in Taney County Circuit Court for a man charged with murdering his girlfriend in a Branson hotel room.
Thirty-five-year-old Jerry Norton is facing six felonies in connection with the December 2014 stabbing death of 46-year-old Melissa Sheridan. The charges include second-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, assault, tampering with a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.
Norton was arrested at the scene, and a search of the room he shared with Sheridan revealed a knife covered with blood, according to a probable cause statement.
Police say he was involved in the assault of a hotel employee earlier the same day.
Norton is jailed without bond in Forsyth. His trial is scheduled to begin November 14th.
