Press Release

BRANSON, Mo. – Kids Across America welcomes all Taney, Stone and Barry County residents from Missouri to tour, learn about and enjoy the KAA camps on Thursday, June 2.  The gates open for guided tours at 5 p.m., guests will enjoy a free, KAA-style dinner at 6:15 p.m., followed by a short program.

“Through the experience of enjoying a camp meal—of being welcomed as the campers are by camp staff—you will fall in love with what we are doing,” said Danielle Stone, KAA1 women’s director. “It will be an experience you will never forget. It’s not just life-changing for our campers, it’s life-changing for our staff and for our guests.”

Camp officially opens its doors to campers, ranging from ages 9-18, from across the nation June 5.  During the summer, KAA welcomes more than 6,000 campers over the course of ten, 7-day sessions. KAA is unique in that all campers are brought to camp by caring members from their own community, that KAA calls Kaleos (a term that means “called ones” in Greek). After camp and throughout the year, these individuals/Kaleos serve as mentors to the campers.

KAA provides a Christian, sports camp experience to disadvantaged urban youth. Its mission is to build Christian leaders by encouraging, equipping, and empowering urban youth and their mentors through camping and education. The KAA vision is transforming urban youth to impact their communities for Christ.

“For more than three decades KAA has been bringing hope and encouragement to the youth of urban America,” said Bruce Morgan, KAA CEO. “Since then we’ve witnessed countless campers turn their lives over to Christ and return home with renewed minds. You wouldn’t think that a little summer camp could have that type of impact, but when the Heavenly Father’s involved, all things are possible.”

There is no cost to attend the open house event. Individuals planning to attend are asked to RSVP by May 31.  For more information, to RSVP and/or obtain directions, please call 417-266-4000 or e-mail kaateam@kaakamps.org. The physical address of camp is 1288 Twin Lakes Road, Golden, Mo., 65658.
