HOLLISTER, Mo. – The Hollister Area Chamber of Commerce welcomes two veteran broadcasters for its May Red Alert Luncheon on Thursday afternoon.
Vice President and General Manager Leo Henning and Chief Meteorologist Jamie Warriner, both of KOLR and KOZL, joined chamber members at The Keeter Center at College of the Ozarks to discuss the relationship between broadcasting and severe weather.
In an interview with Hometown Daily News, Henning says he wanted the members of the chamber to walk away knowing and better appreciating the special role television and radio broadcasters play in emergency weather situations:
Warriner adds when broadcasters begin their coverage of severe weather, he hopes the public understands that in no way is it about creating hype for their station:
Weather can change in an instant and can often disable your television or other electronic devices. Henning and Warriner both additionally spoke on the importance of every person equipping their home and office with a severe weather radio.
