BIG FLAT, Ark. – A woman from Big Flat is dead and a man from Mississippi is accused of letting it happen, early yesterday (Wednesday) morning.
Sheriff John Montgomery says 26-year-old Michael Haddock is facing negligent homicide in the death of 26-year-old Brandy Honeycutt. Officers say they were called to 86-49 Highway 14 in Big Flat at 12:20 a.m. with a report of a woman stuck under a car.
According to the police report, Haddock told first responders that Honeycutt had been helping change a flat when the jack slipped. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:14 a.m.
Investigators say after conflicting interviews with people at the scene and evidence found at the scene, it was determined Honeycutt was hit by the car and run over. Montgomery says Haddock also admitted to investigators, he had a lot of whiskey that night.
Jail logs show he is currently in the Baxter County Detention Center with a 100-thousand dollar bond.
