EUREKA SPRINGS, Ark. – A Eureka Springs woman will spend 15 years behind bars in a state prison for checks she shouldn’t have cashed.
Court records show six separate cases against 55-year-old Jeri Byrd, showing she had been accused of 8 counts of theft of property, two counts of financial identity fraud, a single count for fraud, and another count of forgery.
According to the Benton County Sheriff’s Department’s reports, between August and September of 2014, Byrd used checks in other people’s names and deposited bad checks only to immediately withdraw the cash.
Her debts total over 20-thousand dollars.
