HARRISON, Ark. – A former gas station employee from Harrison pleads guilty on Friday to her part in the staged robbery of the Exxon gas station in Bellefonte, back in January.

Judge John Putman agreed to the plea and sentenced 31-year old Julie Mitchell to three years of probation for a felony charge of filing a false police report and one year of probation for a misdemeanor charge of theft, to be served concurrently.

A public attorney negotiated a guilty plea for Mitchell, after prosecutors changed their charges from felony aggravated robbery to the two other charges. On January 5th, the Boone County Sheriff’s Department was called to an aggravated robbery at the local gas station and Mitchell later confessed to her knowledge about the pre-planned event, where a man took off with less than a thousand dollars.

Twenty four-year-old Austin Angel, also from Harrison, is the other person connected to the crime and he is due in court this week.
