WESLEY, Ark. – The owner of the alleged puppy mill in Wesley is now facing 177 new charges.
Court records show 67-year-old Joyce Johnson now faces 27 felony counts of animal cruelty and 150 misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals. According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, 295 dogs had to be seized from Johnson’s property by the Humane Society on March 3rd.
The Humane Society reports the dogs were found in deplorable conditions without access to food or clean water. Originally, Johnson was charged with two misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty.
She is slated to appear in the Madison County Circuit Court for these charges on June 28th.
