by Shannon Cay

EUREKA SPRINGS, Ark. – Crews in western Carroll County are to participate in a mass casualty drill on Tuesday.

Firefighters from Inspiration Point, Eureka Springs, Holiday Island, and Grassy Knob will all be responding to the scene of a fake building collapse, off of Highway 187 at the west Pointe Motel at 5:30 p.m.

Chairmen of the local Emergency Medical Responders Association Lynn Palmer says the EMRA board has been working with the Western Carroll County Ambulance District for six months to coordinate the learning experience:

She says there will be 9 victims for Firefighters and emergency responders to locate and get medical attention to. Also on scene, will be incident commanders, the local press, public information officers, and traffic directors…

At the end of the drill, there will be an evaluation and a debriefing.

People in Eureka Springs should be advised this is just a drill, however, they should be cautious around the intersection of Highway 187 and Bayshore Estates on Tuesday, all evening.
