MT. JUDEA, Ark. – The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality announces permits for big hog farms, near the Buffalo River watershed, will no longer be accepted.
The Director of the department, Becky Keogh says the C&H hog farm in Mt. Judea is the only business in the last four years, who has even applied for the Regulation 6 permit.
She says that is why they are not renewing it this year.
Keogh adds, the Regulation 6 permit came to fruition in 2011, especially for the animal feeding operation, C&H Hog Farm.
In a release from the department, ADEQ officials say the public’s input and comments were taken into consideration, before discontinuing the permit.
