BRANSON, Mo. – Construction of the iconic Chicago Navy Pier Ferris Wheel, purchased by the Track Family Fun Parks, is going vertical this week in Branson.
Since Monday, April 18th, a team of engineers and electricians with the wheel manufacturer, Dutch Wheels from the Netherlands have been doing prep work on the ground. Come Thursday morning the team will begin the next phase, according to Track Family Fun Park President and CEO Craig Wescott:
Wescott adds the team predicts a substantial part of the wheel will be up by May 5th, with the rest being completed in the weeks to follow.
Since 26 semi-trucks arrived in Branson with the steel, gondolas, and other parts of the Ferris wheel, crews have been repainting all of the steel columns and spokes. The old lighting system has also been removed and is being replaced with a new LED lighting system.
The four-million-dollar project is still on track for an early summer opening.
