HARRISON, Ark. – Arvest Bank in Harrison is partnering with two local food banks for this month’s “Business After Hours”.
Tiffany Watkins, the Marketing Director for the north west Arkansas bank locations says officials with Parakeet Pete’s at NorthArk College and Ozark Share and Care in Harrison will be speaking on Thursday’s event about hunger awareness in Boone County.
According to a report from the Arkansas Hunger Alliance, 560-thousand people in Arkansas are currently food insecure. Watkins says instead of having appetizers, the bank will be donating all of that money to the food banks. She says they are also encouraging those who attend to donate to the food banks, as well.
She says summer time is often hard for families who struggle with food insecurity because the kids are home and extra food is needed. The “Business After Hours” will be at the Arvest location on Walnut Street in Harrison on Thursday at 5:00 p.m.
She adds, Arvest banks are also participating in the Million Meals Program, so anyone who misses the event can donate cash or cans before May 28th at any local Arvest location.
