ROCKAWAY BEACH, Mo. – Bridge of Faith Community Church and the community of Rockaway Beach teams up to give area kids the opportunity to play baseball.
In 2014, Bridge of Faith Senior Pastor Jonathan McGuire says, they began with an idea and a small baseball team. Now two years later, the Rockaway Beach Baseball League has two, 3 to five year old tee-ball teams and two, 5 to eight year old coach pitch teams. They also have a newly installed baseball field and fencing, and sponsored team jerseys.
McGuire adds having a league of their own is a huge deal for the families of Rockaway Beach:
Associate Pastor Cameron Mund says these games are also an opportunity for entire families to spend time in a positive atmosphere:
Due to the generosity of the church and surrounding community businesses and individuals there are no player fees, and each player receives a free jersey. The Rockaway Beach Baseball League held its 2016 season game openers on Tuesday, April 19th. The teams will play a game a week through May 31st.
More information on the teams can be found here.
