Two Drivers Injured in Vehicle Crash near Shell Knob

SHELL KNOB, Mo. – Two drivers receive serious injuries in a two vehicle crash Saturday night, four miles north of Shell Knob in Barry County.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reports 57-year-old David Shephard of Shell Knob was traveling northbound on Missouri 39 at 6:08 p.m., when he crossed the center line a struck a southbound vehicle head-on.

The driver of the southbound vehicle, 28-year-old Casey Petzoldt of Springfield was transported by helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Springfield to be treated for his injuries. A passenger in Petzoldt’s vehicle, 29-year-old Chelsea Petzoldt of Springfield suffered minor injuries, but was not transported for her injuries.

Shephard was not wearing a seatbelt and was also transported by helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, according to the online crash report.
