BRANSON, Mo. – Selling for $275,000 “de Plane,” seen on the Fantasy Island television show from 1977 to 1984, received a new owner during the 38th Annual Spring Branson Collector Car Auction on Saturday.

While the auction has showcased classic vehicles from all time periods over the years, auction officials claim “de Plane,” a 1967 Grumman Widgeon, was one of the most unusual consignments the Branson Auction has ever received.

Owner of the “de Plane,” prior to Saturday’s auction, Mark Trimble says the aircraft has had a very long and interesting history:

In an interview with Hometown Daily News in March, Auction Owner Jim Cox says they were hoping the aircraft would go for something between 350 and 400-thousand-dollars. Trimble says while it didn’t actually sell for that, he’s ok with the going price:

As of report time the name of “de Plane’s” new owner had not been released. More on “de Plane” and the Branson Collector Car Auction can be found here.
