BRANSON, Mo. – Jesus Was Homeless, a non-profit organization, will host its “Meet the Doc” event on Wednesday, April 20, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., at the Vista Plaza location.
“Meet the Doc” is a collaborative network of area service providers and other local non-profit organizations, including the Ozarks Wellness Network’s (OWN it), Cox Branson, Jordan Valley Community Health Center, Faith Community Health Center, Free Clinic of the Ozarks, Branson Family Dentistry, Developmental Connections Burrell Behavioral Health and many other agencies.
These events provide information and opportunities for service to those individuals in the Branson community who lack the funds, transportation and/or education to seek health care for themselves and their families.
“Often times people have to make a choice between putting food on the table or providing medical care for themselves,” said Bryan Stallings, executive director of Jesus Was Homeless. “Our goal is to connect them to these preventative care opportunities in hopes that it will impact their health and well-being for the better.”
“Meet the Doc” is an integral part of the three-dimensional campus at Jesus Was Homeless, where people are served spiritually, relationally and physically.
This event is open to the public. Services provided at “Meet the Doc” include: smoking cessation (quit smoking) classes provided through Cox Medical Center Branson; Jobs for Life classes to gain employment training from Jesus Was Homeless; educational financial assistance and enrollment instructions from Health Insurance Exchange; free dental screenings and tooth extractions from Branson Family Dentistry; optometry screenings from Jordan Valley; medication education and appointments through Faith Community Health Center, as well as many other much needed services, all at only $5.
These area resources are brought together for a one-day, one stop shop to assist in removing roadblocks for those in need. Jesus Was Homeless provides transportation to and from the event and for any follow-up medical or dental appointments.
