JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation reports young turkey hunters harvested over four-thousand birds during the April 9th and 10th 2016 spring youth season.
While preliminary data shows Callaway and Franklin Counties as the top harvest counties, with 105 birds in each, 43 turkeys were taken in Taney County, 34 in Stone County and 22 in Barry County.
Data also shows a drop in harvest amounts for 2016, with nearly 300 more turkey’s harvested in 2015.
Regular spring turkey hunting season begins April 18th and will continue through May 8th. More information on the 2016 Spring Turkey season can be found here.
