MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – A man from Mountain Home is sentenced to 35 years in prison on Thursday for inappropriate contact with a victim less than ten years old.
Judge John Putman gave the sentence, after 29-year-old William Arbuthnot from Mountain Home made a deal with Baxter County Prosecutors, pleading guilty to seven counts of rape. Originally, Arbuthnot contested not guilty in court in December, according to Baxter County Circuit Court Documents.
Prosecutors say later, Arbuthnot admitted to starting a sexual relationship with a 6-year-old girl that continued for two years.
Authorities say when Arbuthnot found out authorities were looking for him, he turned himself in to the Baxter County Sheriff with no issue.
This case was investigated by a school resource officer, the Mountain Home Police, and the State Police.
