Sheriff Warns of Impostor IRS Phone Scam

FORSYTH, Mo. – The Taney County Sheriff’s Department warns the public about a scam involving phony IRS agents.

Sheriff Jimmie Russell says his office received about 20 calls today (Tuesday) from local residents reporting they had been contacted over the phone by individuals seeking confidential information and payments, threatening possible litigation…



Russell advises residents if they receive such a call, to write down the number and report it to the Missouri Attorney General.
