Voters to Decide Municipal, School Board Elections

BRANSON, Mo. – Tuesday is election day for municipalities and school districts across Stone and Taney Counties, with voters deciding several contested races and a number of ballot issues.

There are contested races for Ward 1 and Ward 3 Alderman in Branson, Ward 1 Alderman in Rockaway Beach, Ward 1 Alderman in Branson West, Ward 1 and Ward 2 Alderman in Kimberling City, Alderman-at-Large in Galena, and for Mayor and Ward 1 and Ward 2 Alderman in Reeds Spring.

Galena voters will also decide a ballot question regarding the city’s ability to forgo elections if the number of candidates filing for office equals the same number of open positions.

Contested school board elections will be determined in Bradleyville, Branson, Hollister, Spokane, Galena, Blue Eye, Crane, Hurley and Shell Knob. Hollister School District voters will decide a ballot question seeking permission to borrow funds for the acquisition of facilities currently leased by the district, at no increase to the current tax levy.

There are contested races for village board of trustees at Bull Creek, Merriam Woods, and McCord Bend. Merriam Woods voters will also decide ballot issues seeking the creation of a fourth-class city, and the continuation of revenues pertaining to the titling of motor vehicles and boats.
