HILDA, Mo. – Hercules Glade Wilderness Area in eastern Taney County is temporarily closed while firefighters with the U-S Forest Service work to contain a brush fire involving about 300 acres.
According to Mark Twain National Forest Public Information Officer Bill Paxton, the fire was found Monday evening, and crews have been working steadily since that time. He says a small amount of rainfall on Wednesday helped with the effort:
Paxton says hiking trails will be reopened once there is no longer a threat to public safety…
Paxton says 35 firefighters and several specialists are on scene. The fire is being referred to as the Pole Hollow Wildfire.
