GALENA, Mo. – There are only three contested races in Stone County for the August 2nd Republican Primary, and one of those is for the remainder of a term due to a recent death.
Randy Rogers and Richard Staley have filed for the position of Southern Road Commissioner, with the winner serving the unexpired term of Stan Potter, who passed away earlier this month.
Jerry Dodd is running for re-election as Southern District County Commissioner, and faces a challenge from Hank Smythe.
County Surveyor Rick Kemp is seeking another term in office, and will be joined on the ballot by Eddie Wolfe.
Running unopposed for re-election are Sheriff Doug Rader, Northern District Commissioner Mark Maples, Assessor Brad Hudson and Public Administrator Wendy Metcalf.
Coroner Rick Stumpff is not seeking re-election. Assistant Coroner John Cunnyngham is running unopposed for the position.
No Democrats filed for office prior to the Tuesday cutoff.
