Volunteers to Build Community Garden at Nixa Fire Station 5

Nixa Fire

Press Release

NIXA, MO: A community partnership and volunteers of the community will be donating their time this Saturday, March 19th at the new Nixa Fire Station creating a community ornamental garden.  The partnership is between the Nixa Azalea Association, Nixa Boy Scout Troop 200, Garden Adventures, The City of Nixa, and the Nixa Fire District.  The planting will be all done by neighbors and members of the community.  The project is being coordinated by a local Eagle Scout and the Azalea Association.

During bond discussions with the community, neighbors around the new fire station had requested a day where they could help put some sweat equity into the new station. “Our Fire District Strategic Plan emphasizes the importance of partnerships and alliances that create win-win opportunities for the Fire District and the community we serve.”  Chief Jon Trent

The work will begin at 1pm and should take a few hours.  “The beauty of this work day is that it is bringing together the Boy Scouts, Nixa Fire Dist., City of Nixa, local neighbors who are interested, and the Azalea Association to create a neighborhood garden.  This is truly a community event, and it has been my pleasure helping to coordinate it.”  Dow Whiting, Garden Adventures

After the garden is complete it will be open to the public and our neighbors.  The station and work day will be located at 1295 W. Guin Rd north of Nixa.
