March Programs Announced at Dewey Short Visitor Center

BRANSON, Mo. – The Army Corps of Engineers Dewey Short Visitor Center at Table Rock Lake is now open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. An indoor self-guided children’s activity area is available through the month of March.


In addition, several park ranger led programs are planned through the end of the month.  All programs begin at the visitor center, are free, open to the public, and registration is not required.


Mammal mania will be held from 1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., Saturday, March 19 and Sunday, March 27. Participants of all ages can test their mammal knowledge by matching photos, furs, skulls, scat and tracks.


Hydropower will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 24 and Thursday, March 31.  Learn about hydropower and how it is produced at Table Rock Dam.


Where does pollution come from will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 23.  Check out our 3-D to find out how some of your daily activities may be contributing to pollution.


Nature hikes are scheduled at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 20 and Saturday, March 26.  Get off the beaten path with a hike through the woods next to the lakeshore trail.


Nature tales is held at 10:30 a.m. every Tuesday.  Join park rangers and volunteers for nature stories and activities. Each program will last 30 minutes and include reading a nature themed story and hands-on activity.


Human-sized board game is scheduled at 2 p.m. Monday, March 21. Bring the family to test your nature knowledge in a life-size board game.


Dams on the White River is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 30.  Learn about the history and modern missions of the dams on the upper White River.


Every Kid in the Park, a 2 p.m. program that will earn fourth graders their free park pass, will be held Friday, March 18 and Friday, March 25.  This pass allows you to take your family to federal lands and parks through August 2016.


Bobber time is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, March 17.  Meet Bobber the Water Safety Dog, watch his cartoons and enjoy a family game about being safe around the water at the Dewey Short Visitor Center.


Need volunteer hours during spring break?  Volunteers aged 10 and older are needed for landscaping at Dewey Short Visitor Center.  Volunteers under 16 require adult supervision.
