LAMPE, Mo. – A brush fire in Lampe destroys an estimated 50 acres yesterday (Wednesday).

Southern Stone County Fire Protection District Public Information Officer Eric Nielsen reports crews were dispatched, just after 6 a.m. to an outdoor brush fire south and east of Highway H and Missouri Highway 13.

Nielsen says the property owners had a controlled burn going on their property the night before and believed it had been completely put out, only to wake up in the morning to find around 20 acres of land on fire:

Between the two calls Nielsen says there was no property damage and no injuries to report. Assistant Fire Chief Cooksey advises everyone to use cation when burning during this dry spell.
