HUNTSVILLE, Ark. – Law Enforcement Officials announce Captain Robert Boyed stepped down from the sheriff’s department last week.
Additionally, the Huntsville School Board says he also put in his resignation as the vice president of the board.
In the most recent election, Boyd ran for Sheriff, as current Sheriff Phillip Morgan doesn’t plan on running for re-election. However, Boyd was defeated for the democrat ticket by Arkansas Highway Corporal Rick Evans.
According to the department, Boyd has been active in local law enforcement for about 17 years and had been on the school board for four years.
In his resignation letter to the school board, he sites personal reasons for his departure.
