BRANSON, Mo. – The U-S Army Corps of Engineers opens five of the spillways at Table Rock Dam to compensate for an out of service generator.
Taney County Emergency Management Director Chris Berndt reports the five gates were opened one foot each at Noon today (Tuesday), in an effort to release 15-thousand cubic feet of water per second.
Berndt adds the amount of water being released is equal to the amount that would be released through the generator, if it was operational, and shouldn’t cause any flooding situations downstream.
The spillways are being opened to compensate for heavy rainfall amounts seen in Springfield over the weekend. Berndt says the gates will remain open through the rest of the week.
