Crews Extinguish Commercial Structure Fire

by Sam Clanton

KIRBYVILLE, Mo. – Central Taney County firefighters contain a commercial structure fire at the former Starrett Lumber building on East Highway 76.

Crews arrived Tuesday afternoon to find smoke showing from the center portion of the property.

Fire Chief Chuck Allgood says the blaze was ignited by a wood burning stove in a residential unit adjacent to the flea market…

Allgood says firefighters were able to quickly knock down the flames after making entry to the building. Although there is not extensive damage to the structure itself, the business sustained heavy losses…

A dozen Central Taney County firefighters responded to the scene, along with another seven crew members from Western Taney County Fire Protection District.
