EUREKA SPRINGS, Ark. – Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge President/Founder Tanya Smith is elected as a board member for the Arkansas Tourism Development Foundation. Tanya is excited to be able to stand as a representative of not only TCWR but also for Eureka Springs and Northwest Arkansas.
“Being a member of the ATDF means I will be able to help Turpentine Creek by meeting legislators, state tourism directors, and keep the refuge on the front lines of tourism, advertising, and promotions,” Tanya said.
According to ATDF, their primary function is to fund industry events that use of taxpayer dollars is prohibited by Arkansas law. The majority of their funds come from their annual membership drive, part of the proceeds from the scholarship auction, and memorials and honorariums.
Tanya hopes that through her future work on the ATDF Board that she may one day earn a nomination for the Arkansas Tourism Commission. Tourism is a growing industry in Arkansas and it is through organizations like the ATDF that it will continue to be a critical department in the Arkansas, Eureka Springs, and Turpentine Creek’s future.
