Republic Man Sentenced for Producing Child Pornography

REPUBLIC, Mo. – A Republic man is sentenced in federal court for the production of child pornography.

Tammy Dickinson, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, reports 23-year-old Benjamin Hopper was sentenced on Wednesday, March 2nd, to 15 years in federal prison without parole. The court also sentenced Hopper to 10 years of supervised release following his incarceration.

According to court documents, Hopper met a 14-year-old victim, identified as Jane Doe Number One, in an on-line chat room. The minor later snuck out of her home and was picked up by

Hopper, who kept her at his home for several days. During this time Hopper reportedly engaged in various sexual acts with the victim while recording them onto his iPad.

On August 27, 2015, Hopper pleaded guilty to using a child to produce child pornography between January 21st and 25th, 2015.
