LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Three meetings are slated this week concerning the elk found on the Buffalo National River with Chronic Wasting disease.
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission says they will send officials to talk about how biologist plan to minimize the spread of the fatal disease for both elk and deer. According to the commission, this is the first case of CWD found in Arkansas since they started testing for it more than ten years ago.
The first meeting will be in Jasper tonight (Monday) at Carroll Electric.
On Tuesday, wildlife officials will be heading to Marshall. That meeting will be at the Petit Jean Electric Cooperative.
The third meeting will be held in Harrison on Thursday, at the Durand Center.
Each separate meeting will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m.
