BRANSON, Mo. – Ripley’s Believe It or Not Odditorium in Branson plays tribute to the ancient art of sword swallowing by again hosting free performances on Saturday as part of World Sword Swallower’s Day.

Prior to the event, General Manager John Dixon visited with Greg Pyron and Karen Halfpop on KRZK’s Ozarks Now program…

The show included a live demonstration from sword swallower Sandra Kalista, streamed online at HometownDailyNews.com. Kalista says she’s one of only about 100 performers around the world – a small field for obvious reasons…

At 2:27 p.m. Saturday, 18 Ripley’s museums across the world hosted simultaneous sword-swallowing performances.

Dixon says the day raises awareness of the contributions sword swallowers have made to the fields of medicine and science, and also raises money for esophageal cancer research.
