JASPER, Ark. – A man from Jasper is looking at charges of rape, burglary, and other felonies from an incident on Monday night.
Newton County Authorities and the Arkansas Police, Crimes Against Children Division, attempted to contact 33-year-old Christopher Day at his home because he is a suspect in a recent sexual assault. Sheriff Keith Slape says Day tried to flee from authorities before they could make contact.
The arrest report shows a deputy chased Day into a neighboring home, found a handgun and a fixed blade knife. Sheriff Slape says one count of rape stems from an incident involving a minor who was living with him and another stems from an incident in 2012, where he broke into an extended relative’s home.
Day has a bond of 100-thousand dollars.
