HOLLISTER, Mo. – The Hollister Police Department is contacting local businesses to ensure liquor laws are being followed regarding the sale of alcohol to minors.

Chief Preston Schmidt says he has received inquiries about the department’s policy following disciplinary action taken by the City of Branson, where liquor licenses have been temporarily suspended due to documented sales to minors.

Schmidt says he believes Hollister businesses have been responsible in this matter, but is sending out a letter asking for continued support…

City Attorney Hank Griffin says he has seen more cases involving juveniles shoplifting liquor, than businesses selling alcohol to minors…

Chief Schmidt says over the last year, there have been only three reported incidents of minors with alcohol in the city, and of those, none involved businesses selling to minors.
