ROCKAWAY BEACH, Mo. – The Taney County Commission approves a funding agreement and an engineering study to help address ongoing problems at the Rockaway Beach Wastewater Treatment Facility.

Environmental Services Project Coordinator John Soutee says the 95-thousand dollar funding agreement with Taney County Regional Sewer District will upgrade the plant’s UV disinfection unit and flow metering system. He says the existing equipment is unreliable and ineffective…

Eastern District Commissioner Danny Strahan made motions to approve the funding agreement and the engineering study with Toth and Associates, but called for more immediate requests relating to odor problems at the plant…

Soutee reports a new blower has been installed at the plant, and this should help alleviate the problem. But he says the engineering study is needed to determine a permanent solution.

Strahan reiterated that sewer sales tax proceeds are available for situations such as this, and asked for the City of Rockaway Beach to come forward with additional requests.
