MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – A sex offender from Mountain Home is in jail, after failing to tell authorities he had moved out of the county.

Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says the sheriff office was given a tip last year that 26-year-old Nicholas Carpenter wasn’t living where he had registered as a sex offender. When the U-S Marshals Service did a compliance check at his registered address, Carpenter was gone.

Montgomery says this week, he was found and arrested in Greene County, Arkansas and was transported to the Baxter County Detention Center.

His bond has been set at 15-thousand dollars and, according to jail logs, he is slated to appear in court on Wednesday.
