EUREKA SPRINGS, Ark. – The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent shooting death in Eureka Springs.
Chief Deputy Major George Frye reports on February 19th at 8:44 p.m. Carroll County Dispatch received a report of a disturbance and a possible shooting at Stone Wall Mountain, on Highway 23, north of Eureka Springs.
Responding deputies located the caller, identified as Christopher Kevin Butler, and discovered a deceased subject, who suffered from apparent gunshot wounds, in the driver’ seat of Butler’s vehicle.
Following an interview with Butler, he was arrested and booked into the Carroll County Detention Center on charges of first degree murder and tampering with evidence.
The victim is not being identified at this time, pending notification of the next of kin. The official cause of death is to be determined by the medical examiner. The investigation is ongoing.
