FORSYTH, Mo. – A former assistant band director at Harrison High School is facing eight felony charges in Taney County, alleging he had sex with two juvenile female students at his home in Branson.

According to court records, 28-year-old Kyle Smith was arrested last Thursday, and remains in the Taney County Jail in lieu of 100-thousand dollars bond.

Smith appeared in court on Tuesday. He waived formal arraignment and pleaded not guilty to four counts of statutory rape, and four counts of statutory sodomy.

Last August Harrison Police received a report from an investigator with the Crimes Against Children Unit in reference to Smith allegedly having sex with a high school student.

After initial investigation, the case was turned over to the Taney County Sheriff’s Office. Smith is now accused of engaging two underage girls in sexual relations.

He is scheduled to appear in court again February 22nd.
