MILLER, Mo. – A Lawrence County man is sentenced in federal court for using a shotgun to shoot at an airplane.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri reports 39-year-old David Dickenson, of Miller, was sentenced to six years and six months in federal prison without parole. In addition, Dickenson must pay restitution of 17-thousand-500-dollars to the owner of the aircraft.
According to court documents, on December 3rd, 2014, Dickenson, began shooting at a low-flying plane, with a 20-gauge shotgun, which he claimed was keeping him from sleeping during the day.
Dickenson left several buckshot holes through the rear elevator of the plane and several holes in the airplanes cowling. On September 11, 2015 Dickenson pleaded guilty to destruction of an aircraft.
