EUREKA SPRINGS, Ark. – Ashes from wood stoves and fireplaces are to blame for three small fires this week near Eureka Springs.
Fire Chief Randy Ates with the Eureka Springs Fire Department says the current dry conditions make vegetation susceptible to even the slightest spark.
Ates says ashes should only be put in metal containers away from structures and dry vegetation.
Officials in Carroll County are highly discouraging anyone from any kind of burning outdoors. The National Weather Service has also issued a fire weather watch for a greater portion of the area.
