GALENA, Mo. – The Stone County Sheriff’s Office reports a distribution of nearly 200 conceal and carry weapons permits in the last two months.

Sheriff Doug Rader posted through social media just how proud the office is regarding the surge of new permit applications being made. In December the department processed 75 new permits and in January there were 103. Rader reports these number don’t even count the large number of renewals the department has processed.

Rader adds that they do not require an appointment and they usually have around a three week turn around on applications. You can apply for a permit or renewal Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 3 to 6 p.m. at the sheriff’s office at 110 South Maple Street in Galena.
