Ongoing Cattle Theft Investigation Surrounds Compton Man

JASPER, Ark. – The Newton County Sheriff’s Department announces a man from Compton is connected to some cattle theft in Boone County.

A press release form the department says 44-year-old Ronald Shaver was arrested by Franklin County authorities last week, after attempting to sell stolen cattle at the Ozark Livestock sale barn. According to Newton County Sheriff Keith Slape, local deputies additionally discovered stolen cows from Boone County at shaver’s home in Compton.

Slape says his department is working with the Boone, Johnson, and Franklin County Sheriff’s Offices, as well as the Arkansas State Police in this ongoing investigation.

Officials say Shaver is looking at charges of theft by receiving.
