AVA, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation is hosting a Prescribed Burn Clinic in Ava on February 18th.
This free workshop is for landowners who are interested in managing their land in a conservation-friendly fashion. While fire can be a beneficial tool for improving wildlife habitat and reducing less-desirable plant species, the MDC stresses that prescribed burns should involve planning and on-site management.
Each year the MDC hosts prescribed burn workshops through the state to demonstrate how fire can be used as a management tool for landowners.
The clinic is being held from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Super 8 Motel Conference Room, located at 1711 South Jefferson Street in Ava. To register, contact MDC Private Land Conservationist Christin Byrd at 417-683-4816, ext. 111 or Christin.Byrd@mdc.mo.gov.
