PYATT, Ark. – Pyatt Firefighters battle a field fire that engulfs almost 400 hay bales yesterday (Tuesday) evening.
The local department was first called to the blaze on Marion County Route 30-24 after a land owner called to report that while he was burning tree stumps, strong winds caught some embers and a field caught fire.
Authorities say when they arrived on scene, the blaze had grown to about six feet tall, being fueled by several dry hay bales.
That’s when the Pyatt department called in for mutual aid from the Lakeway, Yellville, and Summit/Bruno Fire Departments, as well as the Arkansas Forestry Commission and the Marion County Office of Emergency Services.
While the strong winds did make it difficult, according to the Pyatt Department, the fire was contained and watched overnight. It did not spread to any homes or buildings according to the department.
No injuries were reported.
