Fire District Honors Volunteers, Officers at Banquet

HOLLISTER, Mo. – Western Taney County Fire Protection District recognizes volunteers and officers for their hard work and dedication during its annual awards banquet Saturday.

Jonathan Rasmussen earns the title of Firefighter of the Year, while Battalion Chief Mike Schultz is named Officer of the Year.

Earning recognition for Highest Call Percentage and Rookie Firefighter of the Year is Colton Reid.

Support Team Member of the Year goes to Roger Rylott, while Cortney Welch is named Junior Firefighter of the Year; Captain Mike Majors is recognized as Instructor of the Year, and Bruce Bjorge is honored for Excellence in Education.

Several other firefighters were recognized for individual efforts at the station level. A release from the district says each award recipient exemplified the core values of commitment, community, caring, courage, integrity and teamwork in 2015.
