RIDGEDALE, Mo. – The final nine holes of the Legends Division of the Big Cedar Lodge Legends of Golf Tournament had a very nostalgic feel as top senior players Bruce Fleisher and Larry Nelson had to hold off a charge from the team of Hall of Fame Golfers Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player to claim the Tournament Title at Top of the Rock.
Fleisher and Nelson had a four stroke lead going into the final round over Nicklaus/Player as well as the team of Butch Baird and Al Geiberger. The leaders immediately gave one shot back as they bogeyed the first hole. Then Nicklaus/Player, playing one group ahead, closed the gap to two briefly with a birdie at the fourth which Fleisher/Nelson answered moments later to get the lead back to three. The gap again closed to two after a Nicklaus/Player birdie at the seventh, then the pair each missed a birdie putt on the final whole that would have cut the lead to one. The miss though began academic after Fleisher hit a birdie at the final hole to get a three shot win.
2014 Champions Jim Colbert and Jim Thorpe finished tied with Baird and Geiberger for third place.
