The golfers are arriving in the Lakes Region as Year Two of the Big Cedar Legends of Golf will take place again at Top of the Rock as well as Buffalo Ridge Golf Course. The event is being held less than a year after the first event in the Lakes Region as it is now is on the schedule where it will remain for the next four years.
The tournament is again split into two divisions as the 65 plus players will compete in the Legends Division while the 50-64 age players are in the Champions Division. Jeff Sluman will try to win his third straight championship with a different partner after winning two years ago with Brad Faxon and then last year with Fred Funk. Sluman this year is playing with Tom Lehman while Funk is teaming up with Eduardo Romero. hampionship which they won by a stroke a year ago over. Ian Woosnam is making his first appearance at the Legends Tournament teamed up with Sandy Lyle. Tom Watson and Andy North are among the other teams in the Champions Division.
Jim Colbert will also try to claim a Legends Tournament Title for a third year in a row. Colbert two years ago, the last year the tournament was held in Savannah, Georgia, teamed with Bob Murphy to win what was named the Demaret Division, then last year teamed with Jim Thorpe the first year the tournament was held in the Lakes Region to win. Colbert will be teamed with Thorpe again this year with Murphy playing with Chi Chi Rodriguez. Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player will also team up in the Legends Division as will Lee Trevino and Mike Hill.
The two day Pro-Am Event gets underway on Wednesday with the tournament itself to begin on Friday. Both Top of the Rock and Buffalo Ridge will be used through Saturday with Top of the Rock hosting the final round on Sunday.
