A man from Oklahoma is in custody following a residential burglary in southern Newton County, Arkansas.
Sheriff Keith Slape says 47-year-old Jeffery Blaine Norton was arrested by deputies at the old Mockingbird Hill Restaurant, initially on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender.
While in custody, Norton reportedly confessed to the residential burglary. Slape says most of the stolen items were located in the restaurant and at an adjacent property. He says deputies are still trying to locate the remaining items.
Norton is charged with Failure to Comply with Registration, Residential Burglary and Theft of Property, and is being held in the Newton County Jail on 25-thousand dollars bond.
The sheriff extends his gratitude to those who provided information leading to Norton’s arrest and the recovery of stolen property.
