According to a report, yesterday morning, the airport resorted to emergency protocol after the Transportation Security Administration screening equipment detected a possible threat. This stopped all inbound and outgoing planes. It also stopped all traffic on the premises. The terminal was never evacuated according to the report.
Reportedly, Springfield law enforcement and the Springfield Fire Department Bomb Squad responded and was able to identify the mysterious package as a non-threatening medical device and was returned to its owner.
The airport was able to resume business around noon.
