Controlled Burn Turns Natural Cover Fire

thumb_1a53e254b7cd865Southern Stone County firefighters contain a natural cover fire this (Thursday) afternoon near Main Street at Reeds Spring.

The fire began as a controlled burn, but got out of control and quickly spread to involve about a half-acre.

Firefighters were called to 2 other reported brush fires, but those turned out to be prescribed burns that were under control.

Public Information Officer Eric Nielsen says confusion can be avoided if property owners will contact the fire district prior to starting a controlled burn…

To report a controlled burn, call fire district headquarters in Branson West at 417-272-1510, or call Stone County Central Dispatch at 339-9117.
