Ark. Among the Worst in Child Homelessness

thumb_e0fa3b3decd7e1aARKANSAS – A new report indicates Arkansas has one of the highest rates of child homelessness in the country.

The report entitled “America’s Youngest Outcasts” was released by the National Center on Family Homelessness this week and ranks Arkansas 47th overall in child homeless. The report says the Natural State had approximately 22-thousand children that were homeless between 2012 and 2013 – a 13 percent increase from the year prior.

California, Mississippi, and Alabama were all ranked below Arkansas in the report.
